The image above is a close up of a wall (I believe) with many different textures. Wood appears to be in the sun/ more bright where dark dripping, paint like figures, are shown. On the right there appears to be a a shadow making the wood appear darker. The splats could be paint or charcoal of some sort as they go in between the groves of the wood. As a whole there seems to be strong unity as light and darks are well divided. The contrast between the light and dark is also a prominent feature in this piece.
