I found this retouching tutorial online and I thought it could be helpful as we retouch the old photo of the man! I have used photoshop a bit so I am aware of methods to retouch but I liked this tutorial because it explained how to retouch on an already high quality image, versus an old wrinkled one. The spot healing tool is great for blemishes and automatically knows what to fill the content of the area with. Patch tool she advises to only use when necessary, to even skin tone if there are some dark patches. Burning and dodging is something I’m familiar with from when I did film photography in high school but I’d never thought about using it to retouch on a face so I found that very interesting. Finally, her best point was how to even the skin’s texture and she suggested using the brush tool after eye dropping for the exact color and just brushing on top of the photo. Even better is if you go too far and it becomes obvious, you can lower the opacity a bit and it will work well and blend more seamlessly.
