Henri Cartier-Bresson work “The Decisive Moment” in particular caught my attention because as the title implies, the photographer doesn’t have a specific focus, rather he decided to capture different raw moments, often with the subjects not even looking at the camera, unaware that they’re being photographed. The candid nature of his work allows the audience to feel like they’re present in the moment the photo was taken.
For my book idea, I am torn between trying to capture New York City street style by photographing friends and strangers on the sidewalk in a candid nature similar to Bresson’s work or shooting a specific area of NY that means a lot to me like Coney Island for example.
Coney Island sounds like a great starting point. I’m interested in seeing your street photography in New York!
