This black and white piece is shot by Sally Gall in Fiji in 2000. The motion is captured frozen in time. The ocean waves are barely breaking the surface and the sea foam is forming. The ripples in the water show the movement of the waves from left to right. The upper half of the piece is a light gray, with a faint darker gray colored cloud on the left. Below the cloud, the ocean begins. The waves have high contrast against the light gray of the sky. The waves get darker as you move down the piece. The bottom of the piece is almost a dark black tone. The composition of the piece is divided between the sky and ocean by a thin line horizontally. This line is faded which gives the viewer the idea that the ocean goes on forever. The cloud in the left and the sea foam in the bottom right balance the piece. The contrast of the shadows of the waves emphasize the movement.

Good desciption and analysis of the movement. The fade from detail to blur is very gradual.
