I thought you did an excellent job in creating a photo book centered around a day in the life of a student during quarantine. I loved how you incorporated your roommates dog in most of the shots. I really liked the lighting of the beginning photographs against the window. I liked how the window was very light contrasting against the shadows of the dark subjects. I liked how you depicted your roommates doing various things around the apartment like reading and cooking. I liked how the different actions resembled daily things that we all do and did during quarantine. I thought some of the photos could have been more interesting and powerful taken at a unique perspective to add some variation. I really liked the closeup shots of the subjects because they are in good focus and the facial expressions are very effective. I really liked the photos of the dog because of the saturated colors of the dog and the way in which the dog is the focus of the image. The incorporation of the masks at the end was also a very good touch. It added a whole other element making the photographs more powerful and effective. I think you could have played more with the lighting and the perspectives, but overall I really loved your book and the concept behind it.
I found this book to be very well done! I like how you turned a seemingly dull topic into a very interesting collection. It was clear that you spend a lot of time framing and thinking about your shots, and shooting in a familiar place allowed these photographs to excel. The only suggestion that I might make would have been to include more photos from different times of the day, so you could have laid it out to tell the story of morning to night. Overall very well done. Also that’s an adorable dog.
I like how real your photos felt. They didn’t feel staged at all which I feel is one of your biggest successes. I really like how this came out as a collection and a whole book. My only critique would have been to mess around with your cover’s text a bit more as it covers some of your first photos subject matter. But overall I loved you book!
