This photo from Lachlan Sear really captures the look of miniaturized photography. I think the high angle of the shot and the shallow depth of field really make the image captured appear as if it is a miniature scale model, when in reality it’s not. The downward angle of the camera, portraying a high viewpoint of this street gives the effect of looking downward onto a fake model. Additionally, the shallow depth of field allows the viewers to focus their attention on just the middle of the image, the cars, bus and people on the right. This technique also blurs out the surrounding buildings which may hinder the effect of trying to make this scene look like a miniature model.

The blurring of the surrounding buildings actually enhances the effect and is typically intentional. Good example!
