This moment of the Civil Rights Movement was captured by Charles Moore. The photo was taken in 1963 by Charles Moore. This photo encaptures African-American protestors taunting a white police officer in Birmingham Alabama. What makes this photo effective is that you can clearly see the faces and various expressions of the protestors. To each their own is an expression of taunting and resentment. What also makes this photo effective is that the back of the police officer is turned to the camera so that the focal point is the protestors. This photo is different than most Civil Rights photography as it lacks solemn but illuminates strength.

Good thorough description of one of Moore’s images shown less frequently than the police dogs, arrests and fire hoses.
