This photograph capture by Luciana Abait in 1971 is shot in a pool in an unknown location. The motion is split in two. The top half of the image is the underwater portion of the pool visible from what it appears like outside of water. I believe Abait rotated the image and I love the effect it creates. I initially thought the shot was taken underwater since this viewpoint is uncommon, however, I believe the bottom portion was captured from above water and the image was flipped. The motion in the top half of the photograph suggests the gentle swaying of pool water. Likewise, the water distorts the light and the ladder from the bottom half of the image from gently moving water, frozen in time. I love this image because of the unique perspective and the gentle pastel blue color of the image is very inviting.

I agree – I think it is flipped but I don’t actually know.
