This photograph captured in 1940 by Arthur Rothstein is a simple photo of an American graveyard for those who have died in WW2. The significance of this image that I see is how early in the war this is. There are countless tombstones which represent individuals lives and stories that are no longer. The photographer showed the gruesome side of this war, it may be nice to fight for your country but look how many people must die, how many peoples family and loved ones are lost. I think Arthur Rothstein does more than meets the eye with this photo with the context and significance of the time it was taken.
