Jerry Uelsmann uses a unique technique of photo montage that foreshadowed the development and use of Adobe Photoshop. He takes many photos and then overlays them in various ways to see the potential of his piece. He then brings these photos to his darkroom where he builds up his images.

I found this photo to be particularly interesting because of the way that the trees are uprooted from the ground and the way that the reflection is different on the water. This picture presents a unique symmetry, but also in turn an asymmetry. Uelsmann wants viewers to have feelings from his works and lets it be up to the viewer’s interpretation.

Maggie Taylor

Maggie Taylor uses a technique of using digital images to make photo montages. Her images are commonly personal and colorful, and tell a story. Taylor was one of the first and early users of Adobe Photoshop and found that it fit her style and inspired her works.

I selected this photo because I like the way that it look and I think that it is telling of Taylor’s style and composition. This photo tells an interesting story of a girl whose mind is clearly full of thoughts. Is she dreaming? Thinking of someone? Either way, the composition and colors compliment each other very nicely.
