Claire Nagelhout, Introduction

Hello! My name is Claire Nagelhout. I am a senior and I am a Psychology major. Next year I plan to go to grad school for clinical psychology and hope to one day become a child therapist. I am from Bethesda, Maryland but am living off campus in Bethlehem this semester. I took 3 years of photography in high school and loved it but when I first got to college I got so busy taking classes for my major and playing for the volleyball team that I didn’t think I had enough time to fully take and enjoy a photography class. However, now that I am in my last semester and finally have enough time to devote to this class I am really excited to begin the semester! In my high school photography class my teacher gave us a chance to try both film and digital photography (I liked both but definitely preferred digital) and allowed us to try a variety of different types of photography. I found myself being really drawn to street photography, and especially enjoyed taking pictures of kids because I think they are so expressive! I have attached some of the pictures I took in high school. I have been looking forward to taking this course for a long time, and am very excited to begin the semester!

  1. Hi Claire,
You will have a chance to do some street photography again in the beginning of March. I like the soft focused background behind your last shot. It places all of the attention on your subject looking so intently at the object in his hand.
