This appears to be boards of some sort – perhaps a weathered boardwalk. Some of the boards look cleaner than others, or maybe a different type of would, adding to the glaring contrast in the image. This piece is very achromatic, like most of his other photographs. I believe this photograph was taken looking down at a boardwalk, or perhaps at a board wall.
