Lynsey Addario

I found photographer Lynsey Addario’s work from when she photographed women who found them selves in situations of war and conflict around the world. This woman, Ayak, had been raped during conflict in South Sudan and this pregnancy was the result of that. As I learned in the NPR article linked below, Ayak was comfortable quickly with Lynsey as the photos she took were almost therapeutic for Ayak. Lynsey’s other photos all feature different women and showcases precisely how they may be permanently affected. Conflict is something that occurs nonstop around the world and Addario’s photos draw awareness to how women specifically are affected.
