Robert Mapplethorpe: The Perfect Moment

Rosie (Honey), 1976
Man in a Polyester Suit, 1980

Robert Mapplethorpe has a collection of artworks that challenge what can be art and how you react to that art. Robert was an American photographer who often takes pictures of nude male and female figures or images related to the human body in black and white photos. But one of his works called The perfect moment and it really struck the art world and really challenge the viewer on Art’s free-speech.

In the collage of photos contains images of sex acts like a man peeing in another man’s mouth, a long tube-like thing being pulled out of a man’s anus to a photo of a naked kid. As a viewer looking at his most questionable work and some areas I have respect in this work because in most of them he’s not trying to point out the most obvious sexual act but in more of looking at it from a different view but they are some of it of his work that can be left out of his discography like the image of a naked kid.

  1. The controversial artists definitely push boundaries between what is acceptable or not in art.
