Civil Rights – Charles Moore

The photo I will go with from Charles Moore is the photo on the left of the people being hosed during the Birmingham Campaign in 1963. I have seen these historic images before, but never knew who took the shoots. This work captured history in a way that no one realized would happen at the time. The Birmingham Campaign was lead by MLK where he actually got arrested as we can see from the Charles Moore image on the right. Birmingham was one of the most racial divided cities in America as prior to this a black church got bombed killing innocent people and children. His work is simply effective because he was in the right place at the right time. These shots are gold and are irreplaceable moment in United States history. These are high school students getting hosed at a peaceful walk-in which no one genuinely would have expected. Like I said, these shots from Moore document history and is why they are the most effective since these events are so historical.
