Henri Cartier Bresson

Rue Mouffetard, Paris, 1954

I enjoyed this picture specifically because of the boy’s attitude. He is smiling, confident, and slightly rebellious. He seems to be carrying two bottles of wine and he is strutting with confidence. Behind him, girls are watching him. This is relevant today to a digital artist because the same attitudes are captured today. Regardless of the technology or the time period in which a photograph is taken, people are people. To capture this moment would be the same regardless of technology.

  1. Street photography continues to be an important topic in digital photography and digital photographers can learn a great deal about composition from works of film photographers.
